Martyn’s Law is now sufficiently clear to prepare for. The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 applies to certain publicly accessible premises and events. Although the Act is not expected to come into force until spring 2027, Home Office statutory guidance has now been published and the Security Industry Authority has set out its approach as regulator, with its final regulatory guidance expected in autumn 2026.
This is the time to determine whether the law applies to you, which tier you fall into (generally standard for capacities of 200–799 and enhanced for 800+), and who is responsible. Addressing these requirements now is far easier than waiting until the last minute.
